The port of Civitavecchia, which has been Rome’s port for 2000 years, has established itself as the Mediterranean Capital for cruises, attracting tourists from all around the world.
Today sees the arrival of Roma Marina Yachting. We are transforming this historic port into the world's most captivating "Superyacht Marina", a jewel set in a breath-taking setting which has witnessed 20 centuries of history: from the remains of the port of Trajan, to the beautiful Renaissance architecture which frames the new granite quays equipped with all the services required for providing for the gems of navigation, design and technology that they will be welcoming.
From here, our guests can reach the pearls of the Mediterranean by sea and in no time at all: Capri, Procida, Ischia Ponza, and Tuscany, as far as Sardinia, Corsica and Sicily. Whilst on dry land, in less than an hour they can be in Rome, or amongst the Etruscan mysteries and the beauty of the historical region of Tuscia.

Centum Cellae was founded between 107 and 110 AD, at the same time as the port on the rocks, wanted by the Emperor Trajan, to replace the now buried port of Ostia. The task of designing the new port of Rome was entrusted to the architect Apollodorus of Damascus. The Roman style city developed around the port, and the Cardo Massimo, the main road running from north to south, was also built. Between the end of the second century and the beginning of the third, during the time of Septimius Severus, considerable work was carried out on the main body of Trajan's building, including on the paving stones of the "cardo" (main road) and the port's quayside. The city grew as a natural extension of the port's design and with the decline of the Roman Empire, when so many once flourishing inhabited areas were in rapid decline, Civitavecchia still managed to retain its importance.
In 1508 Pope Julius II laid the foundation stone of the fortress designed by Bramante, today known as Fort Michelangelo and which, with the city walls designed by Antonio da Sangallo, comprised a powerful defence system. In 1513 the new Pope, Leo X, placed Bramante in charge of overseeing the restructuring of the port. Leonardo da Vinci, perhaps at the request of his friend Bramante, made reliefs of the port. In the 17th-century, during the papacy of Pope Urban VIII, the walls were built which have separated the city from the port area ever since. This was followed by the building of Bernini's arsenal, the Vanvitelli fountain and Port Livorno. The seaport retained its layout until it was almost completely destroyed when it was bombed during the Second World War.
The Port Authorities have begun the important process of redeveloping the historic port of Civitavecchia, a project which envisages the ancient Roman port being used for pleasure boating and mainly by larger vessels. The commercial port, which today has become the biggest cruise-liner facility in the Mediterranean, will be completely separate from the historic port, and in the latter a real marina with different areas for sailing activities will be created, both in the Trajan harbour and the Roman one, with a total of 188 moorings with dimensions ranging from 15 to over 100 metres, offering truly outstanding services and buildings on dry land.
The "Darsena Traianea Sud”, between quays 5, 6 and 7 of the Historic Port, will be inaugurated in 2014. Fourteen out of the 40 moorings will be available immediately, for yachts of between 40 and over 100 metres.
Two quays in particular, namely Quay West, measuring 230 linear metres and Quay East, measuring 105 linear metres, will be available for "side-tie" moorings.

The next stage of the project includes the opening and use of the remainder of the historic port. The “Darsena Traianea Nord” will allow for the docking of around 100 boats between 10 and 50 metres in length.

Roma Marina Yachting will be completed by the "Darsena Romana" for docking more than 70 boats between 15 and 25 metres long.

One of the priorities of Roma Marina Yachting is to ensure the safety and privacy of its guests. Direct access to the moorings will only be guaranteed to authorised individuals and vehicles and the entire area will be supervised 24 hours a day by Port Security and monitored with video cameras controlled by the Port Authority Operations Centre, which is manned around the clock.

There are 14 stations supplying electricity at 400 volts, as well as drinking water, with amperages from 150 to 2050A, depending on the size of the boats.

A tank, with a capacity of around 230,000 litres, has been constructed for the provision of drinking water. There is also a fire-fighting tank with a capacity of around 120,000 litres. It is equipped with 9 wet barrel hydrants close to the quay, in accordance with UNI regulation 12845.
There are two separate pumping systems for extracting sewage and bilge water. In the quay every mooring is equipped with dedicated suction pump stations.

The Trajan Harbour has 360° 5GHz WiFi coverage.
On-site services are provided for fuel storage and refuelling.
Roma Marina Yachting was created by paying the utmost care and attention to, and with a total awareness of, the environment. There are daily refuse collection services, as well as those specifically dedicated to the collection of used oils.
Bollards are positioned from 60 T and from 100 T and mooring rings are also provided; there is also a service gangway provided for on board personnel.
Roma Marina Yachting will be characterised by highly experienced and specialised management, offering reservation services and transport by limousine and helicopter, and specially dedicated infrastructures, with parking close to the Marina and parking spaces alongside the vessel, for the exclusive use of the owner. Also available are procurement, delivery and concierge services and facilities specifically for crew members.
